Losing weight is my major problem since time immemorial (lol). I mean it’s hard for me to be on a diet as I have my migraine when I try to do so.

Now I have seen about this “The Kind Diet” book at the Oprah’s show. As the Hollywood actress,Alicia Silverstone, who is also an activist and committed conservationist, shares her experience that urge her to “stay away” from meat and dairy prodcust forever. Furthermore, she talked about the great benefits of adopting a plant-based diet for weight loss, to have a clearer skin, a non-stop energy and easy digestion.

Alicia Silverstone explained how the said to be good food like meat, fish, milk, and cheese can bring us diseases and can be the cause of dire, potentially permanent damage to our ecology.

Hmmm…I think I wanna read this…

Google Launches Store For Web Apps

More and more online stores are sprouting each day here on the web, so Google has decided to launched their own store where they can sell Google applications. Also, Googla Apps Marketplace will allow third-party vendors to sell their products in the Marketplace. The Google marketplace allows developers to access more than 25 million Google Apps users.

“With administrator approval, [third-party apps] may interact with calendar, email, document and/or contact data to increase productivity,” explains Chris Vander Mey, senior product manager for Google Apps in a blog post. “Administrators can manage the applications from the familiar Google Apps control panel, and employees can open them from within Google Apps.”

I was watching the live telecast of the 82nd Academy Awards or better known as the Oscars Awards Night earlier today.

I was not surprised when Sandra Bullock was announced as the Best Actress for the 2010 Oscars Awards night. She won the award for her performance in the movie The Blind Side.

Got My 2nd Google Earnings!

After 3 months, finally I was able to receive my second google earnings from Google Adsense. Again just a little bit above the minimum but enough to celebrate my birthday today…wohoo!

Now I wish I am at Minnesota! Today, Monday, March 1, Minnesota consumers can apply for a rebate from the appliance they have bought under the Minnesota Trade-in & Save Appliance Rebate Program.

From the $5 Million federal stimulus fund, the Minnesota rebate system is set to benefit more or less 25, 000 consumers.

Appliances eligible for a rebate and rebate amounts are as follows:

clothes washers for $200
dishwashers for $150
freezers for $100 with purchase and proof that their old unit has been taken off the grid; $50 for purchase only
refrigerators for $200 with purchase and proof that their old unit has been off the grid; $100 for purchase only

My First Birthday Party

My birthday will be few days from now and my students gave me an advance surprise birthday party this evening, which I truly appreciated.

For me, it’s a very thoughtful thing to do because this party signifies some of the many firsts in my life. This night is when I had my first “literal” birthday party, first birthday gifts, first birthday balloons and first birthday cake! (*blushing*)

Shamu Kills Trainer @ SeaWorld

The dolphins and whales show is canceled for today at the SeaWorld when an orca brutally killed her trainer, Dawn Barancheau.

Tilikum or Telly, for short, was also involved in two human deaths in 1999. Despite the incidence, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals or the PETA blamed the incident to SeaWorld for continuously “exploiting” these mammals for a show.

As what PETA had written on their blog,

“Earlier this afternoon, another trainer at SeaWorld in Orlando was killed after being pulled into the tank by anorca named Tilikum (or Telly, for short). According to a witness, the whale, who has been involved in two previous fatal incidents involving human beings and who our captive wildlife director, Debbie Leahy, describes as “12,300 pounds of sheer rage,” leapt out of the tank and grabbed the trainer by the waist, pulled her into the water, threw her around like a rag doll, and then held her underwater until she drowned. SeaWorld officials canceled the dolphin and whale shows for the rest of the day, but SeaWorld remains open (have they no shame?!) and will continue to exploit and abuse these captive animals despite the many horrific injuries and deaths of trainers and animals that have occurred throughout the theme park’s history.

As for me, this is not the time to blame someone or something for the incident has already taken place and a life has been taken. Today is the time for both parties to make agreements that will ensure the safety of both the animals and their trainers.

Luke Air Force Base Shooting

One of the suspected thieves is now dead while the other was hospitalized during the Luke Air Force Base Shooting Monday Night when the security shot the two suspects as they run through the gate of the base using a stolen car.

When the suspects tried to run over the security officer, he opened fire on the car and it crashed.

Luke Air Force Base Captain Jerry Gonzales says the suspects were trying to get away from the police and does not believe they were targeting the base. Gonzales also said no one at the base was injured.The base is not on lockdown and Glendale police are investigating the double shooting.
