Why Was Dinagyang 2012 in Iloilo City Memorable?

My family and I got a chance to have a short vacation at Iloilo City, in time for the Dinagyang Festival last January 22, 2012. Actually, it was never in our plan, even going home (after more or less 6 months) is not in our itinerary.

Anyway, to make the long story short, our main purpose that we went home (in Iloilo from Negros) is for shirt printing. We contacted my husband’s friend and he assured us that he can give us around a hundred customers for shirt printing with the Dinagyang theme of course.

Again, to make the story short, the transaction was not materialized, though we had less than 20 customers. Since there’s no use in blaming someone, we decided that shirt printing was not not really our main purpose, but to have a week vacation to visit my mom. Dinagyang and shirt printing were just a “plus”.

On the day of the festival, we went to the main streets to once again experience merry making. We noticed that people were not that “many” and the streets were not that “busy” as compared to last year. Also, sound systems are few when compared to the previous years of the Dinagyang Festival celebration.

Nevertheless, this Dinagyang Festival (2012) was one of my memorable Dinagyang because ONLY me, my husband and my daughter roamed around. No other people to entertain to unlike those past years where I have to attend to “my guests” and my husband is having a “good” time with his fratmates drunk.

This year, was the very first year that he just had 2 bottles of RedHorse (with my permission) then we went home after that. Not that exciting merry making practice, but a memorable one that we were both contented…

The event was very successful ad peaceful in general. There were a lot of tourists/foreigners who were there to celebrate the festivity, as well as, companies who are giving out a5 flyers to advertise their products to those who are interested.

Better Late Than Never…

Yes, better late than never, so I still want to greet you, my avid readers, a Happy New Year and I wish you a productive 2012 and a year full of blessings!

As for me, fortunately, I am welcomed by this year, 2012, with a very good start (blessing). You know, in the last two weeks of 2011, I had a duty in the hospital with my students and every after duty, I spent almost all of my time working on my book.

It’s a textbook entitled “Radiologic Physics Made Incredibly“ together with it’s corresponding manual. Since I’m an insomniac, I had the reasons to stay up late, very late actually (until 5:30am), and I spent those sleepless nights working on my “brainchild”.

To make the long story short, I finished my work the next year (one year after…lol), January 2, 2012, to be exact. Then I contacted 2 publishers and I was lucky enough not to wait too long for their responses because the next day, both of them expressed their interests to publish my work. The first one is Jade Bookstore and Publishing House and the other one is Malunes Printing Press and Publishing House.

So, last week January 5, I sent the typescript (manuscript if handwritten, FYI) to Jade Bookstore and I am scheduled to see the owner/publisher of Malunes Printing Press on Tuesday. Now I am anxiously waiting for the feedback of Mrs. Diaz, owner of Jade Bookstore, regarding my work.

Modesty aside, I know that the book will be certainly published because it is the “first” of its kind in the Philippines. Well, I’m just too anxious and excited about the exact date that it will be out in bookstores nationwide.

Now, isn’t this the best way to start my year?

I have not posted again in a while since I am busy with my offline “world”. Although I am online most of the time, I can’t find time to update this blog and post something worthwhile here.

Things To Know For Professional’s Initial Registration in PRC

For those who have just passed the board exam administered by their respective boards through the Professional Regualtion Commission (PRC), you are required to accomplish the initial registration process before you can take oath and perform your duties and responsibilities as professionals.

These are the things that you should know for initial registration:

Instructions

Initial registrants should come personally to the PRC Central Office or to the nearest Regional Office to file his/her application for registration and to affix his/her signature in the registry book.
All Registration Certificates and PRC ID shall be claimed by the licensee personally at the Central Office or the Regional Office where the application for the same has been filed. If there is an unavoidable need for a representative, he must present his/her identification paper with picture and a Special Power of Attorney.

Requirements

Duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal
Current Community Tax Certificate (cedula)
Two (2) pieces passport size pictures with name tag (for Oath Form and Certificate of Registration)
One (1) piece 1”x1” picture in plain background with complete name tag (for Registry of Professionals)
Two sets of metered documentary stamps (for Oath Form and Certificate of Registration)
One (1) short brown envelope with name and profession

Happy 4th Birthday My Daughter, Hattie!

Last October 7, was my one and only daughter’s, Baby Tyke, 4th birthday. Sadly, since that was Friday and I had a review class, we were not able to celebrate her birthday, though I bought my daughter a birthday cake from Goldilock’s, and a box of donuts from Mister Donut courtesy of my “students”, Jomel and Nang Mila. We just had a simple and ordinary dinner that night.

The original plan was the next day, October 8, Saturday, we woke up early, and prepared for our nature get-away at Mag-Aso Falls, Kabankalan City. My family, (hubby, Baby Tyke and I), together with my sister, Dream, my sister-in-law (Cute) and my mother, were also with us. Actually, I have already planned for this nature trip a month ago to reward myself for all the hard works and sleepless nights, to give ample and quality time to my husband and my daughter, to spend time with my mother (who is staying in Iloilo City), to have fun and “bonding moments” with Cute and Dream (whom I considered as best friends).

We spend overnight at Mag-Aso Falls, eventhough it was still raining from time to time because there was a typhoon on that week plus another typhoon is set to land on the country so the weather was not really good during that entire week. Even so, we did have a great time and enjoyed each other’s company, thanks to the “no-signal” place that there was no cell phone signal nor broadband signal on the place so we were not distracted on our “holiday”.

I was also glad to bring my mom there and let her experience nature with us. I’m sure she definitely had fun and forgot her worries even for a short period of time. My mom and I, together with my sister-in-law, went down to see the falls (it was my 2nd time there and their first) and enjoyed the panoramic view down there.

We also explored the resort and discovered several small falls up in the hill and enjoyed taking pictures there. Oh, it was really fun, though our bodies are starting to ache because of the sort of “hiking” in going up and down the “hill”.

The night before we went to sleep, I declared that we will be going to Balicaocao Eco Park (another Highland Resort that we have been “frequenting”). They just looked at me with amazement and disbelief but I just smiled and shrugged my shoulders. Honestly, I just like to extend my “self-declared holiday” and avoided thinking of my expenses (I’m the one who shouldered all the expenses including my mom’s and sister-in-law’s fare to and from Iloilo). All I want is to enjoy my “once in a blue moon rest days” and give myself the relaxation that I truly deserve.

So, before we checked out the next day, we once again dipped in the pool and the falls to enjoy the beauty of the nature in Mag-Aso Falls once again. Then we checked out around 11:30 in the morning. Before we proceeded to Balicaocao Eco Park (formerly Balicaocao Highland Resort), we had a short trip to the market to buy something for our lunch and dinner as well.

When we were at the Balicacao Eco Park, we were again lucky to have a vacant room (there were only 3 rooms for rent at that time as it is still under construction). They prepared for lunch while I tried to access the internet to check on my emails and some queries and possible orders on my “small online business”. Luckily there were some…important emails (lol). We dipped at the pool after dinner and went to bed around 12 midnight, still feeling the body aches we had from our nature trip at Mag-Aso Falls. Nevertheless, I enjoyed every minute of that memorable 2-day trips and I’m sure, my family had fun also.

To make this very long post short, we went home the next day around 4 in the afternoon as there is no check out time in Balicaocao Eco Park, unlike in Mag-Aso Falls that check out time is at 9AM.

Oh, I just wish I can have another “self-proclaimed holiday” sooner…Well, I just need to save for that in the meantime…
