Review on Cherry Mobile Titan Update To Jelly Bean

I have been using my Cherry Mobile Titan for about 3 months already and I was excited when I have read from the Cherry Mobile W500 Titan Official Facebook Page that it has started to upgrade its platform from Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) to Jelly Bean (JB) last April 15, 2013.

According to the official statement of Cherry Mobile (CM), these are the latest improvements of Cherry Mobile W500 Titan Jelly Bean:

  • ICS -> NOW Jelly Bean!
  • 5MP -> NOW 8MP!
  • New Look Design
  • Less Lag
  • 1GB Internal Memory – the 4Gb internal memory was actually repartitioned to system (1Gb), internal(1Gb), cache (512Mb) and phone storage (1.5Gb)

Personally, I have not upgraded my Cherry Mobile Titan because only the authorized Cherry Mobile Service Centers in the country can upgrade it from ICS to JB. Since there is no CM Service Center here in Bacolod City, where I am located, I have to wait for Over The Air (OTA) update, I guess. On the other hand, for those who have already upgraded their Titan to Jelly Bean, the reactions were mixed. Some of the users said that they have better experience now using the Titan due to less lag, and the 8MP camera setting. Please take note that the hardware of the camera, which is 5MP was not physically upgraded to 8MP, instead, it’s just in the settings. It has also been explained by some users that if you compare CM Titan with Titan TV, the quality of images produced by Titan TV is way better than Titan alone because TV has the 8MP camera hardware. Other users’ main concern was that after the update from ICS to Jelly Bean, they are having a hard time finding their SIM contacts or they can’t import/export their contact list. In addition, other also complain of less vivid color after the update. Some where asking if they can update their Cherry Mobile Titan that is rooted and the answer is yes! Fortunately, CM Service Centers update rooted Cherry Mobile Titan and that the update is FREE with one year warranty. Anyway, for more information and user feed backs regarding this Titan Jelly Bean update, you can visit their Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/CherryMobileTitan.
