Blogging and Multitasking: Is It Really Worth It?

I’ve started blogging almost 5 months ago… Got a PR of 3 after 3 months for both of my blogs, Praning’s Shoutout and Radiology 101, which is very rewarding for me. Last month I bought my own domains, using the money I’ve earned from paid reviews, but unfortunately, it took me back to PR Zero. Yes, Nada! Even so, I just told myself that in no time, I will have it again. So, I am once again working very hard to regain my PR because every blogger who make money online, especially through grabbing some opps, know how PR (Page Rank) plays a vital role to grab some that pays good.

Since I’m not a full time blogger, I always work double time. After class, which usually ends at 8:00 PM, I seize every opportunity to attend to my daughter’s needs, play with her for a while, grab some 15 – 30-minute sleep, then face the monitor. If I get too lazy to get up, I extend my sleep for more than an hour or two, then force “me” to get up on the wee hours and do my “blogging thing”; visiting some blogs, clicking ads, posting, etc.

Usually, I get 2 hours of sleep each day and that’s the maximum, considering the fact that I still need to go to school the following day and hold classes, which means I need to study beforehand, make the exams, check testpapers and all other matters that goes with teaching. Aside from that, I also accept some typing jobs, research works, CD burn…and the list goes on and on…(anything that are income-generating is accepted..LOL)

There are many instances where I’m widely awake from 8 in the evening until 5 pm of the next day…and all just because of Multi Tasking! Did I mention that husband is a natural born B-U-M?!…Ssssh…quiet…Good thing, he does the laundry, housekeeping, babysitting and cooking…hehehe

Lately, I’ve been asking myself, “is blogging really worth it? I mean, is it worth my time, and my health as well? Yes, I love what I do, I love to share my thoughts, ideas and other personal views on topics that I am well versed. But do I really need to do this? For monetary purposes? Yeah, sure, practical-wise…For a hobby? Well, maybe not everyday, but how about my readers who are expecting my posts? That’s where my dilemma begins.

Maybe until I get really really tired and “rest” is all I ever need, that’s the time where I have to temporarily cease and “recharge”. In order for me to perform multitasking, I know I only need M-O-T-I-V-A-T-I-O-N. Luckily, that’s what I got!

  • I find it helps to write articles in advance and then have them posted on a schedule. It takes a bit of the pressure off of trying to blog when you don’t exactly feel like it. It would be nice if I could get to a week’s worth of daily posts in advance, but it’s tough.

Your blogs are very nice – I’m glad I stopped by to say “hi”.
